HELP!! Quick Question -- Reader for Renegade Audio Book

Don't be silly, it's a good thing to know and say. I mean we don't expect panting and groans to accompany the reading like a porn soundtrack, but a little expression might be nice . Mind you, I'd be hard pressed to read those scenes aloud, lol. They actually asked if I wanted to read the audios and I about freaked at the very idea. I talk and read very fast and am sure it would have been a mess anyway, but put me on tape and I suddenly sound like I'm on fastforward. Sigh. I do wish I was more of a public speaker type of gal. Unfortunately, I only have one setting and always talk like I'm yipping with freinds, even to complete strangers. I have no professional setting . . . hmm, well guess I have normal setting and then panic setting which is just a faster version of normal.

Wow, thanks Lynsay. I'm glad he emailed you, too. It's nice for someone to listen to you and your agent regarding your books, and actually take the time to ask you your opinion about it. It's also very nice of you to ask us our opinions. You even mentioned Stephen Fry...You are a Doll!! If they can't get him, at least they have an idea of a good male voice.

I think I figured out where they came up with Bite Me If You Can. Books 1, 5, & 6 were the first Avon/Harper Collins books, and all had titles with the word "Bite" in it. Many of the titles have sounded like the titles of movies, which was continued in books 7, 8, & 9 using the word "Vampire." (You gave them that idea with The Accidental Vampire and it worked very well. I don't know why you don't think you come up with good titles, because you really do.)Then with "The Rogue Hunter Novels" books 10, 11, & 12 all have the word "Hunter" to connect them. It wasn't necessary to call them "The Rogue Hunter Novels" although we did get the really cool bat against the moon emblem out of it. So, up until now, they have had something of a theme going with the series.

A Bite To Remember matches "An Affair To Remember," which did go very well with the book, because of the particular "bite" in question. Lucian and his enforcers were hunting Morgan, so Bite Me If You Can makes sense if you think of "Catch Me If You Can." That's the only relationship I can find between the title and the book. Once Bitten was still a much better title because after Leigh was rescued by Lucian, Mortimer, & Bricker, it was Lucian's & Leigh's story all the way from that point on, and she had already been bitten & started the turn. The hunt for Morgan was still very important, because he had to be caught and he was still an important character. We do have to have "the villain" so the hero can be a hero, but the hunt for Morgan became the secondary or background story. I don't know what that part of a plot twist is called in writer's terms. *grin* (Once Bitten is at the top of the blurb on the back in matching green letters to the title on the front, so someone who does those back of the book blurbs about the book thought it was really good, too!

As for the two coming releases, Born To Bite (Armand & Eshe) and Hungry For You (Alex & Cale) fit right in because the precedent for using "Bite" or "Hungry" in the titles has already been set by previous books. We get "Hungry" from the title of book 4, Tall, Dark, & Hungry. So, our theme is not broken. Even with Bitten By Cupid with the story title Vampire Valentine, we still have our Argeneau series theme. If they had kept "Once Bitten" for the title of book 5, the title of the anthology would have worked even better. Vampire Valentine fits so well with with VI, as we all knew that Marguerite would be the one to make Tiny's match. You couldn't disappoint us by having it happen any other way.

Hmmm...the "theme queen" will quit while she is ahead...sometimes I just "think" too much! Perhaps I should go accomplish some work.

Acutally, I have found the three titles with a similar word very helpful to recall the book order even though A Quick Bite goes at the beginning. So I was a little wide eyed when I realized they were going Born to Bite and then Hungry For You because how the heck am I supposed to remember them now? LOL. But "shrug"

I believe I could read it, and I read aloud with great expression (not trying to boast...it's more of a teacher/librarian sort of thing that you develop.) Although I've never read a book with hot love scenes aloud for others, I'm not very bashful here, am I? It seems that the reader would be in the studio with only the audio people, so it would take getting past being freaked about reading the really hot or really funny scenes in front of them. My problem is that on tape, my voice sounds too much like a little girl, at least to me. That would definitely not do at all, no matter how much expression was put into the reading. Also, a good reader can change his/her voice to fit the characters during the dialogue, keeping it consistent (Who wants to hear them doing their "Etienne" voice for "Lucian" kwim?), yet still read with good expression the narrative parts, usually in their own relaxed voice so that the story flows.

Lynsay, while it would be wonderful if you could read them, I can't see where you would have any time to record the books, and you don't want to do something you are uncomfortable with because it would stifle your creativity while writing...which we most definitely don't want happening!

Hi Lynsay...we'll work out some kind of system for you. I wondered about the change in the way of doing titles, until I realized that there was still a method to their madness...or at least, in my mind I see patterns and a theme...but my mind isn't necessarily the most reliable recommendation!

I've always thought "Bite Me If You Can", made no sense to me. They could have put more thought in it and used something like-- Bitten By A Rogue, or use your "Once Bitten" and add to it. Something like-- Once Bitten By A Rogue. I think the Author should chose the tital.

Yeah, didn't make sense to me, either, 'cause she was bitten, no problems. It's not like she was hard to get, as the title suggests. Oh, well..... that's publishing houses for you. What's on the inside doesn't necessarily have ANYTHING to do with the cover or title. That's probably why the "Don't judge a book by it's cover" phrase came about in the first place.

I was just listening to 'Love Bites" ( it just came out ) on the way to work this morning. It was done by a different woman than the other ones, and while I'd still rather have a man read them this woman is a whole lot better than the one that read 'Vampire Interupted'. This one gives Etienne a lovely soft sexy voice
