I mean there’s nothing stopping any one of us from belaboring a point until everyone else becomes annoyed or loses interest but this forum won’t be a whole lot of fun if that keeps happening. I think we have a responsibility to try to make this little corner of the interweb as pleasant as possible for everyone. To be fair, not everybody is interested in the same things but I don’t think it would be right to ignore other people’s feelings on these matters, either. I believe it’s just about being aware of how our posts affect others.

Well said, Thomas! Keeping Lynsay's cyber-home welcoming, harmonious, and fun for all was one of the original goals when it was established. It takes everyone working together to make it happen. :)

Okay, so my question is kind of about this topic, but please bear with me...

I'm just rereading The Reluctant Vampire and have been asking myself - again - where Port Henry is. I couldn't find it on a map while I was still studying and living in London (ON) and even my maps app can't find it, though the characters in the book suggest that it can't be too far from London.

Now my question: Does Port Henry exist? And if so, how many of you know, where it is? (Okay, so this is mainly to fit the thread topic :D the real question is, of course, WHERE is it?) :D Not that I could go there in the near future :(

Thanks for your help :)

Okay, so this is kind of related to the topic of this thread, but please bear with me.

I am just rereading The Reluctant Vampire and wondering again, where is Port Henry? Even during the time I lived in London, ON, I wasn't able to find it on a map and now my maps app also tells me that this place doesn't exist, although the characters in the book suggest that it isn't too far from London....

Therefore my question: DOES Port Henry exist? And if so, how many of you know where it is? (Okay, I admit, this is only to fit my post to the thread title, the real question, of course, is) WHERE is Port Henry? :D Not that I could visit in the neaf future :( , but still, I'm curious.....

Thank you :)

Hi Nessa Rose, the fictional Port Henry is in Canada. It is based on some small towns near where Lynsay actually lives in Ontario, but I think she made up the name "Port Henry." I'll have to do a forum search to be sure. Bella Black's is based on a real Mexican restaurant that Lynsay enjoys, too, but I don't know if that is the real name of it. Lynsay often uses the names of real family members & friends for characters, and at other times she chooses names with meanings that fit the character. Occasionally, she does the same to name places. Hope that helps! :)

A snipped post by Lynsay: "Accidental Vampire was based in our home (though I altered it somewhat for the book, finishing the attic with rooms)...It was also based in the real town where we lived but I changed the name of it. I also changed the name of the Mexican restaurant and did some alterations to it. Even some characters were based in reality, for instance the neighbors were based loosely on our real neighbors and other things were based on reality as well . . . GAD! I miss those white chocolate, strawberry cookies. I haven't found them anywhere since we moved. Sigh."

That's the magic of fictional places. You're never exactly sure where to put them on a map. If you could ever locate the spot where Port Henry should be, you would find sometime else. If you want to walk the streets of that town, you would need to find a porthole to an alternate universe. If you do find it, please let me know!
