Curious Thought about the Older Immortals

Postby grlnxtdr29 on February 13th, 2011, 5:44 pm

It just occured to me that the Older Immortals must know where the lost city of Atlantis went into the ocean, and could possibly return there sometime. Perhaps one of the older immortals we haven't yet met will learn of some Mortal expedition to find the lost city, and is sent out to make certain that they don't learn too much from the expedition, and while he's out to make certain the secrets of Atlantis remain lost, he finds his (or Her) Lifemate!

That is an interesting theory. Of course, how do we know that there hasn't been an immortal who already did that? After all, no mortal seems to know where Atlantis is and the world is finite place. There are only so many places to look. So, I think that there is an immortal or group of immortals who take the responsibility or were given the responsibility to keep the location secret. They wipe the minds of any mortal who comes close to the location and place the thought that there was nothing where they were looking.

Pardon me but the last I recall is that Atlantis was a island/continent not a city.

Good thought, Sue. It would be in the Immortals best interest to keep the location of Atlantis hidden. Yes, sin, Atlantis is usually referred to as a "lost continent." :)

Image So, it's time to hijack Lucian and have him draw you a map, big sis! Even better, have Lucian and his peeps escort you to where Atlantis now rests. ;) Hey, I'll back you up!

I think the island nation idea is the main real-life theory. However, in the books, it has been said in several books that it was connected to a continent (which one wasn't specified) where it was surrounded on three sides by water and attached by a mountain range. In BMIYC, Lucian said this, "We were an insular society, never looking outward to see what was beyond our mountains. An earthquake changed that. It split the mountain, cracked it open, bleeding the volcano onto the city, then a second earthquake -- or the aftershock -- swallowed it up. It just sank into the water." (BMIYC pg. 116)

Oh, and Wren, I just snuck outside to grab a nice, big handful of the wet, sloppy snow that is still on the ground here -- I've packed it nice and tight and am sending it whizzing down your way! SPLAT! Bwahahahahahaha!
