RSVP means "send a reply to the invitation/request". Often used at the end of party invitations, etc.

It's actually a short-hand for the French words "Répondez s'il vous plaît" (Literally, "Respond, if you please"). ;)

RSVP is a short way of saying "Répondez s'il vous plaît", a French phrase that briefly translated means "please respond." It's often used on invitations and things like that, and is a way for people to know who is or who is not attending an event.

If an invitation says RSVP, it is polite to respond as soon as possible or by the date requested as either "yes, I will attend" or "no, I'm unable to attend." Sometimes an invitation will say "regrets only" which means only respond if you are unable to attend. One reason for including RSVP on an invitation is so that the people planning the event know how many to expect for preparing food or other things, or reserving a place at a formal event that is catered, such as a wedding.

This is an invitation to a "virtual event" in which you are invited to participate. The reason for the RSVP on this invitation from Bittenbybooks is to help enter you in the contest. Either type or copy & paste the information http://bittenbybooks.com/?p=11297 to go to the website to RSVP (respond) that you will be taking part in the event at the date & time given if you are going to do so. All the information regarding the date and time is in the original post. Lynsay will be available for an interview at this website on that day, and then will chat and answer questions from readers. On the day of the event, you must mention your RSVP and ask a question to be entered into the contest...which has some very nice prizes.

You can tell your forum friends on this thread if you will be taking part in this event...either that you have submitted your RSVP to participate, or that you wish them well since you can't be there. I hope that helps, dea.

Btw, you are not a stupid person or an idiot & shouldn't feel like one! It was a good question, as there may be others from around the world who didn't understand what RSVP meant either! Remember, not all of us are having to translate from a second language and other cultural traditions, instead of getting the knowledge from our native language and culture, so you are to be commended for becoming a part of us and learning new expressions and other things...and letting us learn new expressions and about the German culture as well! :D

If you have any other questions, please continue to ask so we can help. That's what forum friends do! 8-)

Dea,

Central time in the U.S. is not the same as Pacific time. Central time is GMT -5. I just talked to my father who speaks to relatives and friends regularly in Germany and he said there is a 7 hour time difference between Central time and Germany. So, the interview is at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow. That would be 5:30 p.m. in Germany. I hope this clears things up for you.

Good you explained my guess was something with reservation or so.

I’m trying now to figure out what time it would be here hopefully I don’t have to work at that time and really try to be online and around for that.

But there is written: Event starts at 10:30 am Central on 10/1. Contest runs until 11:59 pm PDT on 10/2.
PDT = Pacific Daylight Time (= summer time) ……right?

So I’m here in GMT +01 (summer time) I think I have to add nine hours ….

OK so 10:30 am timezone PDT it would be 19:30 here… if I’m right and I’m really hope so because that would mean I have time.

Aha !!! I posted my RSVP ( thx for the new vocable wren) and the time mentioned there is 12:50 so here it is 21:50 the nine hours are right. Great.

Dea,

If you follow this link it shows the current time (24 hour clock) in the Central Time Zone. From here you will easily be able to see the difference between Central TIme & the time in Germany.

Thank you all for answering about the time and RSVP. :)

I have been so busy today (well yesterday now) getting ready for Lynsay's event.

All of our events basically post or go live on the internet at 10:30 am Central. The authors are there in and out all day answering questions. Some may not sit right at the computer all day. This gives them and the readers flexibility as to when they can come by and ask questions.

There are usually several more questions posed late at night and the next morning from our international readers and the authors typically come back and answer those as well.

Hence the really long time frame. LOL :)

I am so glad to see so many of you are going to make it. I am looking forward to your questions and getting to know you along with Lynsay better. I just read her interview and is really REALLY good!

See you all in a few hours. :)

Yay! Isn't it a great interview? I love it when the authors go in depth with their answers. It really helps us get to know them better.

She's there and answering questions!

Have fun!
