Back in 1963 Jim Henson made some short films for the the Bell (AT&T) Data Communications Seminar. Here is a chance to see some of Jim Henson's pre-Muppet work. It's very amusing and unmistakably Jim Henson.

This is the link to the short one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivJNNwTGDcw

This is the link to the longer one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuLUWQRh-po

I would like to apologize in advance for the title of this video. I'm not, myself,in the habit of using language like that but I couldn't resist posting this. That's because I'm from Saskatchewan and I've said some of these things. Besides, we're always happy for any opportunity for people who live in sleepy little backwaters like New York, Chicago or Toronto to learn a little more about our neck of the woods.

Okay, Thomas. Some of that sounds very much like the things that are said in the North Woods of Wisconsin. As for the shoveling....Been There, Done That! Especially trying to scrape the ice and finding the crack in the shovel, bringing everything to a sudden halt! But I did find myself laughing at the way the guy was bundling up and the other guy slipping on the ice!

Well, it is true that many of the things depicted in the video are not all together unique to Saskatchewan but taken together the do kind of some up, in a humorous way, the flavor of the place. I guess it illustrates that we all have a lot in common and a lot to laugh at. As for slipping on the ice, that happens to me a couple times every winter. I've managed to avoid braking anything.

Still, have you ever asked someone, "Done seeding?" I have.

I have to admit that I've never heard that one before and can't figure out what it refers to. How about some help?

Well, agriculture is a big deal in these parts. By asking that question you're basically asking a farmer if he's done planting his crop for the year.

There isn't a tractor jockey out there who won't talk your ear off given half a chance. My dad was one of them.

Here it is, Jim Henson’s original pitch reel for The Muppet Show. This is a must see if you ever loved the Muppets. I really miss Jim Henson. Kermit the Frog's voice has never been the same since we lost him.

Thank you, Tom. I just spent 30 minutes watching Muppet videos on Youtube. Fun. Ended with Bohemian Rhapsody.
